The Brown and White

“IT Chapter 2” is a thriller/mystery movie which takes place in a town called Derry, Maine. This movie contains many action-packed scenes between humans and an evil clown and is filled with a lot of suspense. The movie also contains various points of comic relief, which add laughter in the midst of terror.

In the first movie “IT,” the seven characters were at the young age of 13. In the sequel, they all appear to be around 40 years old. Richie is a hard-drinking, trash talking, stand-up comedian. In my opinion, Bill Hader plays this role the best through his perfect comedic timing and dramatic acting. Bill was a novelist whose latest book is being produced into a movie. Mike is the only one out of the seven who stayed in the town of Derry. He’s considered a self-styled historian and the one who reunites all the characters. This was a good way to introduce what type of personalities these characters had and the different paths that they all took 27 years later.

There were many scenes in the movie that I thought made it really enjoyable to watch. After all the characters meet up at a Chinese restaurant, it is apparent that all of them never really changed from when they were kids. They continue to tease each other about certain things they did in the past. Another interesting scene was when Pennywise the clown turned into a huge spider-like creature. In the original 1990 movie, Pennywise turning into a giant spider was disappointing due to the limited special effects back then. The giant spider was done with stop-motion, which made it look awesome to viewers.

I felt that the movie really emphasized the importance of courage and working together. It was apparent that some of the characters lacked the ability to do this; but, in the end, the group worked together.

Overall, I thought the movie was well-made with the actors and actresses that played their roles. The special effects made it more intense and mysterious.With the way the plot was formed, made it more interesting to watch and enjoy. Since the movie takes place with all the characters as adults, I think it adds more humor to the film. Despite the scenes that made me jump out of my seat, I would definitely say this will be one of my favorite scary movies that I watched.
