CHS teachers Alexis Sziy and Leslie Estrada, along with interested students, traveled to various countries in Europe over the summer.  During the 17-day trip, Catasauqua students and staff traveled to Germany, France and Spain. The group was able to visit cathedrals, experience local cuisine, travel on the Spanish train El AVE, among other things. The students were also able to practice their Spanish skills while in Spain and parts of France. Estrada thought that the tour guide was amazing and found the trip to be very enjoyable. “I really liked Nice when we went to France,” said Estrada. “It was better than Paris because it was a city, but there was also a beach.” The group was also able to travel to Barcelona where they experienced very warm weather due to a heat wave. Junior Janiyah Graves got gelato every single day, went shopping, took boat rides, and met the locals from day to day. “It seemed like a regular life,” said Graves. “I expected a huge difference but it made you realize that, wherever you are, people live a normal life.” The next trip that the CHS travel group will be taking is to London, Paris, and Italy in 2021. During this trip, the group will be going on more foodie tours and also a Jack the Ripper tour in London. Estrada is in the midst of planning the trip and can take any student inquiries.
