The cross country team started off the 2019 season in August. Prior to the start of the season, the boys team lost a group of experienced seniors, but returned some key runners. Senior Ben Langsdorf really enjoyed watching everybody improve throughout the year.  “What I have enjoyed so far is watching the underclassman grow to their full potential as cross country runners,” said Langsdorf. The boys team finished with an overall record of 3-21. Luke Colon has been one of the key runners for the team over the past three years. This year, he had positive things to say about them team and set some personal goals. “This season is one that I will never forget,” said Colon. “My personal goal was to reach 19 minutes for 3.2 miles.” The girls team has had one of their best seasons in years with an overall record of 14-10. This year they returned their whole team. At the Colonial League Championship meet, the girls team was able to place 6th out of 13 teams. Lexi Rushatz and Lucy Brubaker placed 17th and 18th while Beronna Brinkley was able to place 39th. Ashley Ritter, one of the young runners, enjoys being able to run with friends during the season. “I really like running due to the fact that there’s a friendly competition and the feeling of pride after running three miles,” said Ritter. On October 23, both the boys and girls team competed in the District XI Championship meet at Desales University. Cole Brown was the top finisher for Catty, placing 20th. Lexi Rushatz  placed 3rd for the girls, and Lucy Brubaker placed in the top ten. Rushatz’s finish was good enough to qualify herself for the PIAA Cross Country Championship in Hershey where she placed 98th Coach Kyle Rusnock was very excited about the success everybody had this year. “The season went very well for us with a lot of great individual runners,” said Rusnock. “It was awesome to see everybody improve from the beginning of the year to the end”.
