Students flooded the cafeteria at Catasauqua High School to attend the 2019 Turkey Day KickOff Dance on November 8. The dance underwent some changes this year as it was pushed to a later date and the name was changed. Students spent the night dancing to songs like “Temperature” by Sean Paul, “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon and “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek Mill. This event kicked off the start of Thanksgiving festivities for Catty High.

Senior Alyssa Lee thought the dance was a hit.

“I had a great night with my friends,” said Lee. “I enjoyed my final homecoming dance.”

The annual Northampton versus Catasauqua powder puff game was played on November 10. Senior Joscelyn Acevedo was happy with the team’s effort, despite a 46-34 loss.

“The girls really came together as a team to finish the game strong,” said Acevedo.

The stands were filled with supporters from both Northampton and Catasauqua.

In October, the Roughies faced Northwestern Lehigh in the annual homecoming and senior night game. The homecoming nominees rode a truck around the field and later walked across the field accompanied by their families.

All of these events lead up to the Turkey Day pep-rally and annual Turkey Day game on November 27 and 28 respectively. The Homecoming Court will be honored at the pep-rally, and Homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Traditions like Baby Bonfire and King of Legs will also be announced. During the pep-rally, the powder puff cheerleaders will also perform their halftime routine choreographed by the junior cheerleaders. The girls created a routine showcasing the stunts and cheers the boys learned. The teachers will also perform their teacher routine which has been a student favorite in recent years.

After the pep-rally, generations will gather at the elementary school for the bonfire, where traditions will be honored and the community can come together before the Turkey Day game
